The primary finality of the project is to interweave a tourist net constituted from seventeen small European cities, belonging to the nations of France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. These places are united by common peculiarities: all the selected Communes have medieval origins, they develop in a territory characterized by vast naturalistic, landscape and architectural resources.
The selected cities have a limited number of inhabitants (maximum 10.000) and a lot of them have fractions and suburbs of indisputable beauty. The four leader corporations are École d’ Avignon for France and for the whole project, Serpa for Portugal, Barberino Val d’Elsa for Italy and Sos of the Rey Catolico for Spain. The tourist net, that will be constituted, will serve to show to a vast public the resources of each local patrimony, through the interaction of common strengths finalized to the realization of the maintenance of the naturalistic patrimony, of the urbanistic development and of the management of the resources of the fauna. The net will be also useful to preserve the natural, cultural and architectural resources.
The objective is to favor an integrated tourism, encouraging the alternative modalities of tourist offer, aiming to revalue places of less notoriety, but not of less interest.
The project foresees the activation of exchanges of experiences in the sector of the sustainable tourism and in that of the rural tourism of quality. The meetings are divided in transnational reunions in which just the 4 national coordinators participate. In these meetings are planed the operational phases of the project, then each national coordinator organizes a national reunion to propose the operational phase to the partnerses of which it is the leader and to explain them the job that each one must complete before the plenary reunion, to which seventeen Communes will participate and in which the developed job will be introduced. These reunions don't represent just a moment of job, but also an opportunity of exchange on the cultural, linguistic and gastronomic plain; in these occasions a part of the program always foresees the visit of the entertaining city, the taste of the local products, the knowledge of the customs of the place. It’s a moment of enrichment for the involved European nations.
In the last months, in different centers of the European countries involved in the project, various reunions have been held and they have allowed the partnerses to reach the preset objectives for the year 2003-2004.
In the following prospect you can find the temporal and geographical positions of each session, characterized by the convocation of a transnational, national and plenary reunion, and the developed actions.
The first cycle had the objective to set the bases of the job and to know all the partnerses of the project under the tourist, social and cultural profile.
The second phase has served to individualize and to introduce a part of the innovative projects proposed by the Communes.
The third moment is focused on the definition and on the approval of the appointments of the Paper of Quality. It has been completed besides the illustration of the innovative projects.
The fourth and last phase has foreseen the official creation of the net with the signature of the respective partnerses.
